The Winter season is the season of Vata-Kapha so we take special care of the immune system during this time.
As it is without, so it is within, say the sacred texts of the Vedas, so we wish to align our every day activities with the season we are in. Here are a few tips you can print out or share with your friends and family as Ayurvedic recommendations for staying healthy during the cold and flu season.
Frequent hand-washing
"Hands-off-the-face" approach. Resist all temptations to touch any part of face
Gargle twice a day with warm salt water (use Listerine if you don't trust salt).
Use a Neti Pot with salts and immune support wash once a day in the am. You may call us if you have questions about how to purchase a neti pot and/or how to use your neti pot
Avoid cold foods and dairy products after the noon hour
Boost your natural immunity with Fluccomune. You may call us for more information about this supplement
Drink warm, non caffeinated liquids throughout the day . Drinking warm liquids has the same effect as gargling, but in the reverse direction. They wash off proliferating viruses from the throat into the stomach where they cannot survive, proliferate or do any harm.
We hope this is helpful to you, and come back often to read our frequent updates on the Ayurvedic approach for promoting your optimal health throughout the year!
